DALLAS WILLARD (1935-2013) Dr. Willard has deeply affected many people through his writing and speaking. He displayed a scholarly acumen and a pastor's heart, seeking to integrate philosophy, theology, and ethics with practical discipleship and Christian day-to-day living.

Dr. Willard studied at William Jewell College, Tennessee Temple College, and Baylor University before earning a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin. He was a professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern California from 1965 to 2012, working in the fields of logic, philosophy of mind, and epistemology. He loved teaching and considered it a noble profession responsible for the condition of the world in years and centuries to come. His teaching, writing and research continues to nurture young minds towards truth, reason and God, and his groundbreaking books have forever changed the way thousands of Christians experience their faith. Richard Foster, author of the book Celebration of Discipline, says of Dallas, “Rarely have I found an author so penetrating in his intellect combined with so generous a spirit.”

    I had gotten the book some time back and was very much enjoying it, it is full of truth,
    not something you just sit down and read through, but that you take it bit by bit, you
    like read until you are filled - which at times doesn't take long. Dallas Willard, and
    excellent writer. And finding this dvd and guide, oh my, I started it at the beginning
    like a review of what part of the book I had already read to and then continue on doing
    both book and dvd thru the end. Dallas and John talking and John interviewing such
    a relaxed setting each time but so wonderful to take in along with them as I took in the
    material in the book as well.

    For those of you who have tried to get through the Divine Conspiracy book, btw (just do to chapters 4-7 your first time reading) this DVD series will help you process Dallas Willard's sometimes dense ideas.
    My wife and I watched the first session of the Divine Conspiracy last night. I highly recommend this DVD. I thought it was public teaching I saw on youtube, but it is not. It is a one on one conversation between Dallas and John Ortberg. Simply brilliant. The content is rich, but not religious (no surprise!) and Dallas' conversational style in that setting left us...thinking...I want THAT! I want to know God, like THAT, I want to be involved in Jesus' projects...like THAT!

    I watched the DVD presentation before I read Dallas' book, "Divine Conspiracy", and I missed few concepts. After I read the book, I watched the entire DVD again, in fact twice, and the whole presentation made so much more sense and was much more clear. Those who are interested in this DVD should definitely buy his book and read it either before watching the DVD or concurrently. In my case, watching the DVD first made me more curious about the detailed explanations in the book, so it worked out great. Hopefully, I will use this DVD to lead a group Bible study in the near future.
